STEVEN DREW UNLIKELY TO ACCEPT RED SOX QUALIFYING OFFER (Report)

Steven Drew

It appears Steven Drew will explore the "Free Agent" market.

A report by noted baseball writer Peter Gammons, says that a general manager has indicated that Drew's agent Scott Boras has set up a number of meetings for him on Tuesday the 12th.

If this report is true,Tuesday would be one day past the deadline for Drew to accept the Red Sox "Qualifying Offer".

Although he struggled during the postseason, the 30 year old hit .253 with 13 HR's and 67 RBI during the regular season.

Drew's defence was outstanding.

He may be looking for a multiyear deal, something the Red Sox might not be willing to explore with  Xander Bogaerts waiting in the wings.
