~ Peralta signs with Cardinals : Jhonny Peralta has signed a four year contract worth $ 52 million with the St.Louis Cardinals. Peralta must pass a physical for the deal to become official. As his defense is questionable the Cardinals obviously decided to overpay Peralta rather than give up their prospects in a trade. Peralta was suspended for 50 games for his involvement in the Biogenesis PED scandal.
~ Blue Jays going after Samardzija ? : ESPN is reporting that the Toronto Blue Jays are "putting together a package of young players to offer to the Chicago Cubs for RHP Jeff Samardzija. Samardzija who is 28,set career highs pitching 213 2/3 innings with 214 strikeouts. But he also has a ERA of 4.34. Although he was once thought to be a big part of the Cubs rebuilding Chicago has been listening to offers for him. According to reports they are looking for three or four top youngsters. Samardzija is eligible for salary arbitration next year and is a free agent in 2015.
