~ Lackey up for a Trade ?: John Lackey's name is surfacing with the Atlanta Braves now that Tim Hudson has signed with the Giants.Officially,the Braves plan to go to 'spring training' with their prospects David Hale and Alex Wood competing for a major league roster spot.In the meantime look for the Braves to shore up their rotation with a experienced pitcher.

~ Will Jay Z 'strike out'?: Jay Z and his team are determined to obtain for Robinson Cano the richest contract in baseball history. Cano's agents seek to market him as 'the next Michael Jordan'.The Yankees meanwhile are talking 'reality'.Yankees president Randy Levine said yesterday to ESPN,"We want Robbie back;we think Robbie is terrific,but we have no interest in doing any 10 year deals and no interest in paying $ 300 million to any player.Until he gets a little more realistic,we have nothing to talk about".

~ Covering all the bases on Napoli: ESPN is reporting that Cory Hart has said his agent has been talking to the Red Sox,Rays,Rockies and Brewers.Ben Cherington must be checking out his options if Mike Napoli goes elsewhere.

~ Houston to host Civil Rights Game: The Astros will host the Baltimore Orioles on May 30th in the annual MLB Civil Rights Game.Commissioner Bud Selig made the announcement and said "the Astros have demonstrated a substantial commitment to supporting diversity throughout our industry."The game will be the highlight of a series of activities including a civil rights roundtable discussion and baseball and softball for the young people.The MLB Beacon Awards luncheon will also be held. 

~ Carlos Beltran ?: Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald tweeted that Red Sox have engaged in a 'serious dialogue' with Beltran and his agent.As Beltran refused the 'qualifying offer' from the Cardinals whoever signs him will have to give up a top draft pick. Beltran,over the last two years,batted .282 with 56 home runs and 181 RBI's.The Red Sox would use him in left field and to fill in for David Ortiz when he needs a day off.
