MAX SCHERZER IS CY YOUNG WINNER !

MAX SCHERZER
Max Scherzer has won the A.L. Cy Young Award for 2013.

Scherzer had a record of 21-3 and was the only pitcher in the American League to win 20 games.

Scherzer had a unbelievable year where he was in the top five in every major pitching category.

When the Tigers ace Justin Verlander struggled during the season Scherzer became the 'stopper'.

In the new era of 'Baseball metrics' Scherzer had a .97 WHIP Ratio which in layman's terms means Max allowed less than 1 base runner per inning.

He allowed the seventh fewest home runs in the league and less than all the other contenders for the Cy Young award. The .250 opponents B.A. he allowed was 3rd best in the American League.

Max had 25 'Quality starts' and a pitching line of 21 wins,2.90 ERA,240 strikeouts.

During the postseason Scherzer became the third pitcher in MLB history to have back to back starts of at least 11 strikeouts.(The others Cliff Lee & Verlander).

Ironically, the Tigers announced this week they are shopping around Scherzer and Rick Porcello looking for a trade. The idea being Scherzer has one more season before he becomes a 'free agent' and he is represented by Scott Boras.

With Verlander already signed to a $ 202 million contract the Tigers may want to 'get what they can now'!

In the meantime Scherzer is the best of 2013.

Tomorrow: MVP
