GM'S / OWNERS SET FOR WEEK OF MEETINGS

JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes
The General Managers and Owners will begin their annual meetings later today in Orlando,Florida.

These meetings kick off the "Official" off season in baseball as these leaders of the game discuss common problems.

Later today the Assistant GM's will hold their meeting followed by a group dinner of the General Managers.

Tuesday, the GM's hold their meeting followed by the owner-committe meeting.

Wednesday the GM's meet with Commissioner Bud Selig and on Thursday the meetings wrap up with the Owners meeting.

Some of the topics to be discussed at this years meetings are:

1) Instant Replay by Challenge: There is a great demand to expand Instant Replay and to install a system where the teams can CHALLENGE a call. The groundwork for the rules for this are to be discussed. There was an experiment done in the Arizona Fall League this year that left MLB very impressed.

2) Protecting the Catcher: There will be a serious discussion on eliminating home plate collisions in a effort to protect Catchers from injury.

3) A-ROD: Some discussion will be had with Commissioner Selig on the Alex Rodriguez issue. The Yankees cannot plan their off season if they don't know how much they have to spend.

And of course there will be the "Hallway" conversation as players agents will be out in force.

All eyes will be on the Rays to see if they intend to move David Price and toward JayZ to see what he has planed for Robinson Cano.

All in all it will be a great week for tips if you are a waiter at the Orlando Marriott, unless of course you get the table of Jeffrey Loria.
