RED SOX : News & Notes
November 14,2013.

~ Scherzerlike Numbers : Clay Buchholz had a amazing year statistically, with numbers that in any other year would have made him a finalist for the Cy Young award.Because of a long stint on the D/L Clay only pitched 108.1 innings last year. For the record Clay was (12-1 1.74) with opponents batting .199 against him.His WHIP was 1.02.

~ Sour Grapes Dept.: Reporters in Toronto are such homers.Mike Rutsey (The Toronto Sun) and Tom Maloney (The Globe & Mail) both selected Terry Francona over John Farrell in their manager of the year votes.Nice to see there are no hard feelings.

~ 'Old' Red Sox Dept.: Reports indicate the Oakland A's have signed Nick Punto to a one year contract for 2.75 million. There is a 'vesting option' in the contract that could keep Punto with the A's thru 2015.Jed Lowery, the A's shortstop, made 2.4 million last year but is headed to arbitration.Does Billy Bean smell a trade ?

~ 'Old' Red Sox Dept. part 2: Alfredo Aceves was spotted working out in Mexico.Apparently several teams are interested.
Good Luck !

~ Still 'Hanging Around: Mike Napoli was spotted at the Celtics game last night. He was also at the Bruins game last weekend. It's like he doesn't want to leave.
