~ More 'Cold Water' for Cano: Comments from New York Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson after having dinner with Jay-Z and sports agent Brodie Van Wagenen concerning Robinson Cano. "They requested a meeting. We talked generally and that was it.As I said,we were approached.Having said last week that I didn't foresee contracts in the $ 100 million range for the Mets this season,I think that statement still pertains. On the other hand,we are committed to improving the team and we will explore whatever possibilities arise, however remote and eventual outcome." I wonder who picked up the tab for dinner ?

~ Another award for 'Pedey': Dustin Pedroia has won the 2013 Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association's 'Heart & Hustle' Award. The award is given annually to a active player who demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game. All active major league players and alumni vote for this award.

~ The 'compensation' left unprotected :  Left unprotected yesterday in the Red Sox roster moves were Chris Carpenter and Aaron Kurcz the two relievers who were the compensation for the departure of former GM Theo Epstein.

~ A-Rod on the radio : After leaving his arbitration hearing yeaterday Alex Rodriguez joined radio host Mike Francesa on WFAN.Some of his comments :  Again he claimed his relationship with Anthony Bosch was for "nutrition and weight loss."He denied using the PED's in the current allegations. And about Bud Selig,"It's 100 percent personal. It's about his legacy and my legacy. He's trying to destroy me.He's retiring in 2014,and to put me on his mantle on the way out, that's a big trophy."The saga of course is to be continued.
