LaRUSSA ~ COX ~ TORRE UNANIMOUSLY ELECTED TO HALL OF FAME

The Veteran's Committee has unanimously elected Bobby Cox, Tony LaRussa and Joe Torre to the Baseball Hall of Fame. They will be inducted in next summer's ceremony in Cooperstown.

Bobby Cox ranks fourth in all-times wins among managers with a 2504-2001 record. Cox managed for 29 seasons with the Blue Jays and the Braves. Cox led the Braves to 14 division titles between 1991 and 2005. He was a World Series winner in 1995.

Tony LaRussa ranks third in all-time wins. In 33 seasons his record was 2728-2365. LaRussa won three World Series, 1 with Oakland in 1989 and 2 with St.Louis in 2006 and 2011. He won the pennant six times in his career and also managed the Chicago White Sox for eight seasons.

Joe Torre won the National League MVP as a player in 1971. His managing career spanned 29 seasons. While compiling a 2326-1997 record he won four World Series championships with the Yankees and six pennants.

Notables omitted by the committee this year were Dave Concepcion, George Steinbrenner, Dave Parker and Billy Martin.
