FRANKLIN MORALES TRADED TO COLORADO

The Boston Red Sox have traded Franklin Morales and minor league reliever Chris Martin to the Colorado Rockies for infielder Jonathan Herrera.

Herrera will provide a little 'safety' in the infield with the impending loss of Stephen Drew.

Will Middlebrooks did not perform well last season and is not actually guaranteed a starters job at third base. He will be on a short leash next season.

Herrera hit .292 with a .364 OBP last season. He played at shortstop, second base and third base.

Franklin Morales had been with the Red Sox since 2011. He appeared in 20 games last season due to injuries. Morales has played for Colorado before from 2007 to 2011.

Chris Martin spent last season at Double A Portland.
